Canadian Poetries

My friend Shawna Lemay’s new site, starring a whole lot of me.

Sage Hill 2013

I’m confirmed for the Sage Hill Writing Experience faculty in the summer of 2013. John Gould and I facilitated the Introduction to Writing Poetry and Fiction workshop this past summer and it was a real life-changer for our participants, but also for me. I’ve been a participant at Sage Hill five times over the years, and have loved the chance to give back to an organization that’s been giving to me for nearly two decades.

A New Poem at Truck

Leap Local Travel Writing Competition

The other day, I was delighted to help judge - for the third year in a row - the Leap Local Travel Writing Competition with my colleagues: Gary Buslik, Sean O’Reilly, Lavinia Spalding, Garry Craig Powell, Vicky Baker, J. Maarten Troost, and Tahir Shah. This is my third year sitting on the committee, and did it via Skype from my home office, rather than from the back of a smoky taverna on Crete (That was last year. This year was earlier in the day and more sober).

Kirsten Koza was our able and fun moderator (and a great writer and pal of mine), and Nicki Dee kept tabs on the wild changes of heart we were having on the fly. I’m happy to report that we didn’t even kill one another!

Big fun! The winners will be announced in Leap’s travel magazine, What on Earth, on the 9th of October.
